To host her fourth annual Rare Impact Fund benefit gala in Los Angeles, Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez chose what may just be the most classic fall manicure shade of all time. You know, the one you automatically reach for as soon as that first crisp air hits your skin, when the craving for sweaters and pumpkin spice lattes and cozy candles is simply too strong to resist: rich, deep cranberry red. You see it and exhale, wrapped in the warmth of October.

For the event, which raises money for youth mental health initiatives, Gomez chose a strapless beaded Prada dress and mimicked the same ruby color on her nails. She turned to her longtime nail artist Tom Bachik, who applied a few coats of Olive + June's Gel Polish in SC, a lush bordeaux, to her medium-length nails, then added the brand's top coat for extra shine. Though it's been super hot in Los Angeles recently, the “ruby red Rare” color brought all the autumnal vibes to the sunny red carpet. Doesn't it make you want to pull on a cashmere sweater, snuggle up on the couch, and sip a glass of red wine or a mug of piping-hot tea while watching your favorite fall movie?

“We needed a shade that went with both her gorgeous Prada gowns for the night and Sel wanted a bit of color,” Bachik tells Allure. “We chose … the deep bordeaux jelly red that gives the same depth of color as the stones on her red carpet gown and a perfect contrast to her sparkly champagne evening gown.” (Gomez changed during the evening.)

Bachik used the gel polish formula on Gomez, which requires a UV lamp to set the color, but fret not! Her exact shade is also available as a regular nail polish for just $10, so if you don't have a lamp at home, there's no need to invest in one.

Gomez's cranberry mani is a timeless fall shade, which is why it tends to pop up year after year as one of the best colors for the season. If you're still planning your fall manicures, why not cycle in a rich ruby like hers when you want to feel glamorous and sophisticated—even in your sweatpants.
